Gaining the skills of the scene emotionally, requires emotional continuity which starts to become proof that they have experience as an Actor. Idealistically the Actor should be able to have two takes of the same scene placed side by side and the editors able to process the two takes simultaneously.
As real time editing, and reality shows increase productions the ability to have Emotional Continuity will become as it already is a most sought-after quality in Acting.
It saves hours of time sometimes on each scene as the matching of emotional continuity because the Actors ability is able to put scenes together even when they were filmed minutes, days or weeks apart.
Emotional Continuity is the ability to be cohesive in the acting scenes where different takes can be used as one take.
Emotional Continuity Takes Time
Unlike the Emotional Preparation Techniques that can be used right away with varying successes Emotional Continuity takes time to achieve. This will be a learning curve to achieve consistency. So, the Emotional Preparation instructions can usually be followed right away to produce sporadic results as it will take time to achieve Emotional Continuity for film.
This is why there is an age-old argument that Actors that work in the Theatre can often achieve continuity working in film holds some merit. However, if you work with the subtleness of film and stick with the trial and error it takes to achieve the myopic levels of effort will start to achieve very acute film results.
This is the reason for film Directors back in the day doing on camera rehearsal versus theatre versions of productions first like some other schools of thought did.

What Emotional Continuity is Not
Emotional Continuity is not the ability to perform emotion or ride an emotional note.
It is not an effort to achieve a thought emotion.
Is not the interruption of scenes to attempt to interject emotion.
Emotional Continuity is the effortlessness of scenes going in natural directions without any interference once started.
This is part of the upcoming book to be released and is already two volumes. Both "Emotional Preparation and Emotional Continuity for Actors" and "Acting with Spontaneity"
